When to travel in Albania
The best time to travel in Albania is in the summer months, in order to enjoy its magnificent beaches, some of the most beautiful in Europe, close to the border with Greece, in the south of the country. As Albania has a typical Mediterranean climate, it is a good holiday destination in all seasons, especially in spring and autumn, when there are fewer people and the weather is still wonderful for beach activities. It is also the best time to go hiking and enjoy the mountains. If you are looking for a beach, from May to September is the ideal time to travel in Albania. However, if you are not looking for a beach, you can travel in Albania all year.
Documents to travel in Albania
To travel in Albania you do not need a visa, but you need a passport or valid citizen card. In theory you can travel only with the Citizen’s Card, but we were required to have a passport, although they did not have it stamped. Therefore, from our experience, we advise you to travel with a passport, especially if you cross borders by land.
Rent car to travel in Albania
The easiest way to travel in Albania is by renting a car. If you are only traveling in the country it is a good option. However, if you want to cross borders and visit neighboring countries, you must be careful. Most companies do not allow you to rent a car in one country and then cross the border to another, especially if that other is Serbia, Macedonia or Kosovo.
